Title: Introduction to quantum algorithms
Wednesday, April 3, 2024, 16:30 - 18:30
Short description: The course will introduce the standard
computational model for quantum computers, and use that model to
derive and analyze several quantum algorithms. The emphasis of the
course is on algorithms that are useful for tasks in operations
research, in particular optimization and Monte Carlo simulation.
Aims of the course: The goal of the course is to be able to identify
potential sources of quantum advantage, assess the resources necessary
to execute a quantum algorithm, and implement simple quantum
algorithms using existing software.
Content(sketch):
Computational model: qubits, gates, measurements.
Grover search. Quantum minimum finding. Amplitude amplification.
Quantum Fourier transform. Fast quantum gradient algorithm.
Solution of linear systems.
Amplitude estimation. Applications to Monte Carlo simulation.
Basics of implementation.
