The deployment of carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) infrastructures is a complex and multifaceted challenge. In seismic regions the possibility of leakages and ruptures in pipelines transporting CO2 may represent a safety and social issue.
In our latest article we discuss and assess the interplay between costs and risk in the optimal design of CCS chains aiming at reducing industrial carbon emissions in Italy:
