The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an
intergovernmental organization that supports countries in their
transition to a sustainable energy future and serves as a leading
platform for international cooperation, a center of excellence and a
repository of policies, technologies, resources and financial resources
knowledge on renewable energies.
With over 180 member countries, IRENA promotes renewable resources and
technologies as the key to a sustainable future and helps countries
reach their renewable energy potential. IRENA is based in Abu Dhabi.
Officially founded in Bonn, Germany, on January 26, 2009, but born from a
commitment matured during the International Conference on Renewable
Energy held in 2004, IRENA is today the most authoritative and
accredited international institution in the study, analysis, support and
cooperation regarding the Energy Transition.
Its World Energy Transition Outlook is a world reference point for all
those involved in the field of energy and climate policies.
