"Career success schemas and their contextual embeddedness: A comparative configurational perspective"
"Careers in context: An international study of career goals as mesostructure between societies' career‐related human potential and proactive career behaviour"
These two articles published in the Human Resource Management Journal illustrate the results of an international research project conducted by 5C - Cross-Cultural Collaboration on Contemporary Careers (https://5c.careers/) research group of which Martina Gianecchini (Department of Economics and Management Unipd) is a member. In the article lead by Robert Kase, a configurational perspective is adopted to show how institutional (e.g. the conditions of the labour market, the level of development of the country) and cultural (e.g. individualism and masculinity) conditions of a country influence the way workers perceive their "success". The article lead by Maike Andresen shows how people's career proactivity is influenced not only by country-level factors but also, and above all, by shared beliefs about the extent to which financial success is considered important in a society.
